Ronin in penance

This full back tattoo was inspired by the samurai Endo Morito , a celebrated figure from 12th-century Japan whose story has been immortalized in Japanese art and theater. The artwork depicts Morito accidentally murdering his cousin and lover and undergoing penance beneath the Nachi Waterfall , reciting prayers of forgiveness to the deities. As the water cleanses him, he recites incantations of forgiveness to Fudo Myoo, the Japanese deity of wisdom and transformation.

The piece is constructed in Japanese blackwork style, with large areas of solid black, strong contrasts, and traditional elements such as waves, divine halos, and a sheathed sword. In this case, I also included gray tattoos on the figure to give the ronin strength and character. It was an intense project, both technically and emotionally, full of details that demand precision and patience.
